From 720P to 4K

The current system is 20 years old and so is the video technology. Step 1 is upgrading all video components to 4k or 8k resolution!

The pile of old cables. To be replaced by just a few HDMI cables!

Audio Equipment update!

Flag ship equipment in its day! These devices have served the client well.
A Marantz AVR will be at the center of the new surround sound system.

Projector Update

Another flagship product 20 years ago. This will be replaced by a projector that is a fraction of the size and price and will outperform it by several fold.
The old projector is disconnected and the new projector has a temporary spot on the couch for testing. Having never seen 4k in their own theater, the client was excited to see anything playing as soon as possible. (Me too). This also lets me confirm the distance measurement.
The old HDMI cable will pass 1080P but not 4K. So we’ll pull a new cable.
The new projector is substantially brighter than the old one. Even though we’re only seeing 1080 it already looks fantastic!
The projector is going to work in the existing position. Probably move the wire opening to be closer to the mount on the ceiling. Not sure what’s there yet though!
The new projector needed to be moved to the left (stage) about 7”.
After moving the projector the physical adjustments on were centered out which is best and the image fit the screen perfectly!

Speaker Update to Atmos

We’ll be adding 6 in-ceiling speakers. 4 Atmos channel speakers and the rear surround speakers.
New Inceiling Speakers in position!

New Sources

Along with AppleTV, we’ve added a Nvidia Shield. The shield provides excellent audio quality and huge flexibility in surround sound output.
